The purpose of the meeting was to present the activities of European Business Association Information Technology Committee and to discuss practical steps for cooperation with the Ministry.

The participants of the meeting outlined the major challenges faced by industry representatives. Among the challenges that were announced - the need to develop a comprehensive public perception of the industry, to clarify the concept of the "IT industry" and the need for the regular collection and analysis of statistical data and the calculation of macroeconomic indicators, as well as creating a positive image of the Ukrainian IT industry in the country and abroad.

Following the meeting, the participants decided to initiate the collection and analysis of statistical data on the IT industry, including the following indicators: volume / share of IT industry in the Ukrainian economy, the structure of industry segments, as well as its impact on the economy (i.e. macro-economic indicators). It was also proposed that a campaign be launched to promote the entire IT industry in Ukraine in order to develop its positive image in the international arena.

Particular attention would be given to strengthening partnerships between higher education institutions as a scientific and educational centers and IT companies of the country. Among the key participants of the process would be NTU "KPI", Computer and Technology College that train qualified specialists in the sector, and Telesens who for several years has cooperated with these institutions in many ways.

"This will be form a foundation for developing the IT industry, as well as a comprehensive approach: on the one hand companies would begin or continue their activity - doing outsourcing projects, developing their own ideas, start-ups and manufacturing their own products and solutions. On the other hand, higher education institutions will provide these companies with highly qualified specialists "- said Eduard Rubin.
